Thatcher's gift

I read a lot of blogs on a regular basis and one of them that I am a follower of takes her kids every year to Dollar General to buy their dad a birthday present.  I thought this was a great idea, they can shop and pick up whatever they want; because really how expensive can the Dollar General be?  So for Mike's birthday I took Thatcher shopping at the Dollar General.  He got his own basket and he could put whatever he wanted in it.  I let him pick out his own birthday card for Daddy.  We ended up with "Happy 1st Birthday Grandson" and " Happy Birthday to a Special Nephew".  I tried to point him in the right direction but I wanted him to select what he wanted to.  He was so proud of those cards- I personally thought it was hilarious!  I am sure when he gets older we will all have a good chuckle out the cards Mike will end up.  Next we went shopping for a present.  This is what we ended up with: (Not these exact same one's but you get the idea)

Bubble wand, a plastic gun, and a Halloween Cleaver prop.  However, getting those items away from Thatcher when we got home was a bit of a challenge so Mike ended up just getting the plastic gun.   Hey, he can't say he didn't get a new gun this year- right?  Thatcher and I had a lot of fun shopping at the Dollar General and I think Mike found some humor in his gift- it's the thought that counts.
