Combines and Corn

This past week was Deer Hunting Season.  The last couple years Mike has been taking the whole week off and we split being single parents for the week.  I guess I am the single parent- Mike has two grandmas and a grandpa to help him out.  Mike picked up T on Wednesday and took him back home to spend some time deer hunting.  Mike had promised T a tractor ride if he was good.  T was really looking forward to that tractor ride, that is all he talked about that week.  He can't stop talking about Uncle Ernie, his combine, and the corn... oh, and the big truck that Uncle Ernie has.  Thatcher's "report card" said that he enjoyed telling the class about his tractor ride from the weekend.  I bet they couldn't get him to quit talking about it.  He was still talking about it last night over dinner.  Uncle Adam's favorite uncle status might just be up for grabs!

Thatcher was with Mike when he got his buck.  Apparently Thatcher thought that was pretty neat.  I thought showing him Bambi on the car ride home would make him appreciate deers but apparently my thinking didn't work because he still watched Daddy shot Bambi's dad.  Thatcher now thinks every gun Mike has is his and he wants to go hunting and use his guns and shot deer.  "Sigh"  I tried- I really did.  Do you see the smile on his face?  Why isn't he sad for the deer?  Or scared of it?  Maybe boys are just born that way.  I don't know.
Thatcher had a great weekend at home hanging out with daddy and playing with his cousins.  It is fun to see him get excited about things and have him verbalize it back to you.
