Yarn- My New Obsession

In my younger years I used to pretty crafty.  I was even part of 4-H growing up (if you can believe that!) and sewing and baking were my speciality.  I used to sew on my mom's sewing machine and was pretty good at it.  However, as I got older being part of 4-H really wasn't that cool and none of my friends were in my group so when my mom got a new sewing machine I just quit and I haven't tried to use one since.  The baking, well I think my mom helped me out a lot with that because I CAN NOT bake.  My sister on the other hand is VERY good at baking.  Thank goodness she doesn't live closer because I would weigh much, much more than I do now!
In the last couple months I have become mildly obsessed with all things yarn - in particular yarn wreaths.  It all started when I discovered some on Etsy and I thought why would I pay $50.00 for that I think I can do that at home for much less.  My first one turned out pretty good considering I just looked at a picture and tried to come up with an idea on how it was constructed.  The best part about these- no sewing required, just a glue gun and scissors.

I made one for Christmas but it wasn't really my favorite one plus it fell off the door and came apart so I don't have a picture of that one.  This one is my "winter" one.  I think it turned out pretty good.

Finally, my most recent one.  I think I spent less than $10.00 making this one- which makes it even better!  I got the wreath for half off at Hobby Lobby and used a 40% coupon on the yarn.  As my obsession for these wreaths have grown I have learned how to expand my craft skill instead of buying things to put on them I am going to try to make flowers, circles, etc.  I made these flowers- first attempt at it and I think they look great.  I can't believe how easy they were to make, I almost feel like I should have been able to figure it out but a nice step by step guide was all I needed.  The felt was 4 squares for $1.00- SCORE!  I am very happy with how it turned out.  I am going to make a couple more for Spring/Summer as I have some other ideas I want to try.
