Thatcher's "school" had parent/teacher conferences last night. I know you might be thinking- "really, parent/teacher conferences for a two year old?" I kind of was too but was oddly excited to go. Our first parent/teacher conference! They an actual preschool structure there so I am sure that is more why they do it than anything else. Thatcher scored awesome on his evaluation. He is one of the oldest kids in his class so that makes things a little easier for him but I was pleased with what she had to say. Plus the requirements they have for a two year old are not that difficult; manners, taking turns, doing group activities, colors, shapes, numbers.
I had to laugh when the first sentence I saw was "Thatcher is definitely a very strong willed little boy." She hit the nail on the head with that one. She believes he will grow out of it -I think she is delusional :) Mike and I both wanted to raise our son to be a strong willed, independent boy. I still want him to be sweet and loving but I want him to be able to stick up for himself, be okay being by himself, be a leader, assert himself. We make him have responsibility already; pick up his toys, put his dishes in the sink, pick up his clothes, let Frankie out, etc. I personally think I treat him more like he is much older because I never had much experience with toddlers.
She went on to say he does a wonderful job participating in bible focus and circle time. She believes he will be a wonderful leader someday. His review made me feel great about the child/person he is becoming and our decision to move him to a daycare center. I already call him Mr. Mayor because he is so social and talks to EVERYONE when we are out and about but maybe I am setting the bar too low- Maybe I should be calling him Mr. President.
